Karimbas and SaReGaMa Karimbas

Karimbas and SaReGaMa-tuned Karimbas

The Karimbas have about half their tines bent up to make two rows of tines, one shorter and higher, the other straight, longer, and lower.

The advantages? It gives you another handle on organizing the tones, and the tine tips are farther apart and easier to play than a kalimba with the same number of tines all on the same level. This is a traditional African design, but the new age artist SaReGaMa began making his own tunings of the karimba which have become very popular.

Also, we have student karimbas, which include only the lower, longer straight tines and can play many of the traditional African tunes.
