OK – we are out of these now, sorry!
The Heart-10 Kalimba has been discontinued. A replacement kalimba is the new Spiral-10 Kalimba. Most of the words below are also true for the Spiral-10:
The Old Heart-10 Kalimba Description
These are very sweet kalimbas, with soft, wide tines, modestly spaced, that are easy on young thumbs and beginners of all ages. Key of C.
With 10 notes, this kalimba is actually quite a capable instrument and is able to play a lot of really nice music, including the repertoire of African karimba music.
The heart-shaped sound hole represents my love for the kalimba – and hopefully yours too! The wood-etched shadow of the heart echos the forms of a dolphin and a bird, representing wild and free life, and all that live on planet earth. The wood-etched stars represent the hope for a sparkly, sparkly future for all people, for all beings on our earth, and for your kalimba playing as well!
The painted tines help you match the tines to the kalimba tablature – there are several mighty downloads full of instructional material for these kalimbas. The new 32-page instructional download “Introduction to 10-Note Kalimba in C” comes for free with the 10-Note kalimba.
To see the other instructional materials, visit the 10-Note Resource Page.
This is a stepping-stone kalimba: everything you learn on this kalimba can be played on the Hugh Tracey Alto kalimbas, or on the new Chinese-made 17-Note kalimbas in C. This kalimba is a step toward a life-long enjoyment of the kalimba. Our 10-Note Kalimba is made in China to Kalimba Magic specifications.
This kalimba is truly soft and cuddly, and I – an experienced player – love playing this simple and easy kalimba for enjoyment. Yes, it is that sweet. And when I write a song on this kalimba and want more notes, I just jump onto my 15-note Alto Kalimba or 17-note Bb Treble.
I would also recommend this instrument to anyone who just wanted to start playing kalimba. What a great introduction to the kalimba!
