Hugh Tracey Celeste Treble + PU

$120.00

This kalimba’s notes are just like the 17-note Treble Kalimba, but the tines are mounted on a flat kiaat wood sounding board instead of the resonating box. A great model for performing with a band.

Choose the color of the painted tines, or take "Soonest Available" or "Unpainted."
If you don't select, we'll ship "Standard G Tuning".  You can learn more about the alternative tunings on the treble tuning page.
This tiny hammer will help you achieve more accurate tine tuning, and will elminate finger pain from tuning "by hand". A win-win for sure.

Description

That delicate music box can get loud when you plug it in.

This instrument is played just like the 17-note treble Kalimba, but it lacks the resonant box. Consequently, it sounds even more like an antique music box than does the treble kalimba. The small sound board is well-suited for small hands or children. The small board also permits using the right index finger up-stroke method typically used in mbira playing. A nice trick to increase the volume is to hold it against a window or a table as a sounding board.

With the electric pickup added, you can plug in to an amplifier and be as loud as any guitar or drum.

We don’t have sound clips of the Celeste Treble + PU, please listen to these sound clips of the acoustic Celeste Treble:
