This monster download of songs for the C-Alto kalimba will keep you busy for months or, more likely, years! Instead of one release for each type of music, we just threw it all together into one big download. Also, I wrote or arranged six other songs specifically for the C-Alto, and threw in a chart of the common triads (chords) on the C-Alto.

Remember, the C-Alto is the exact same instrument as the Hugh Tracey Alto Kalimba, but tuned to C. The range is still the same as the standard Alto, two octaves from G3 to G5. In other words, G, or the 5th of C, is in the bass.

The main difference between the C-Alto and the regular old Alto Kalimba is that the two F# tines are tuned down to F natural. IF you have a regular old Alto, you can change it into a C-Alto by tuning the F# notes down to F natural by yourself, in a matter of minutes. If you are under 12 years, or if you are a senior lacking hand strength, you might not be able to do that retuning.

Some people get the Hugh Tracey Alto-based Chromatic kalimba in the C tuning. While this C-Alto download doesn’t help them learn the back side (ie, the chromatic side) of their instruments, it will provide instruction for the front side (diatonic).
