Description
The MBira-style Treble Kalimba (MBTK) is build on a Hugh Tracey Treble Kalimba, but with the notes rearranged to form a lower C major scale on the left and a higher scale on the right. It is like having one small kalimba for youe left hand and another small kalimba for your right hand. This puts the left-right communication required on the kalimba into a whole new light of possibilities.
This is approximately the note layout of the Mbira Dzavadzimu, but missing the extra low row of bass notes on the left side.
This is also very similar to the note layout used in the YouTube kalimba hit by Acoustic Trench.
This kalimba is all about making patterns on the left and right and combining them in interesting and amazing ways.
There is also an associated instructional download for this kalimba. The download is a 50 page / 42 song PDF formatted for the iPad or tablet. When you click on the tablature on each page, your web browser is sent to download the MP3 sound file associated with that musical example.
