Description

This 48-page PDF contains kalimba tablature and links to MP3 and KTabS file downloads for 32 songs written just for this instrument and tuning.  With only nine notes, the Sansula is much easier to get your head around than the typical 15 or 17 note kalimbas, and yet, it is actually capable of some wonderful music.  It is like a finite little universe that is perfect for personal explorations.

As to the Sansula’s tuning – each tuning is like a different land you could travel to and explore, with its different tastes and styles and feelings.  The C Major Sansula tuning is simply happy and positive, sometimes majestic and even euphoric.  Music theory-wise, it makes the I and IV chords easy, but the V is a bit out-of-the-way – you can play it, but it makes you work.

When I take my own personal explorations on this instrument, I am often struck by the simplicity and beauty of the music that it makes so easily, so I take careful notes when I come up for air.  The best of those musical journeys are reproduced here.  The download includes tablature for two different C Major Sansula YouTube videos.

An example page from the book in included as a supplemental image for this product, and those two YouTune videos are included in the Video tab.

This anthem in C Major, performed on the “Hands on Drums” Kalimbula, is the final song in the download. This video will be very helpful along with the tablature.

This is the first sansula I ever put into the C Major tuning. I liked the tuning so well that I made this video before I sent it off to the music therapist who ordered it.
