Hugh Tracey 8-Note Kalimba
This 8-note Hugh Tracey Kalimba is a similar instrument to the Catania 8-note kalimba, and it is made in Africa. In standard tuning, the notes span one octave in the key of C. Now available in different tunings!
This instrument is a bit smaller than the Catania, but the soundboard, shaped like a certain style of traditional African kalimba (which happens to be the shape of the AMI trademark), is thicker than the Catania kalimba. The tone of the two instruments is very similar, but the sustain of the Hugh Tracey 8-note is somewhat longer. The thicker soundboard and the longer sustain makes this a great kalimba for holding against resonant objects such as a bowl or a table for amplification. Perfect for small hands. And, with the painted tines, this instrument is perfect for the 8-Note Kalimba Book!
