More Numbers System

There are books for the Catania 8-Note and for the Catania 12-Note kalimbas that are numbers based.

The 8-Note is a good kalimba to start on, but for young children - let's say under 8, or if you are working with someone who is developmentally delayed, the 6-Note Pentatonic Kalimba is a great choice. It also comes with a free numbers-based download. One advantage of the numbers-based system is that it will work no matter how the notes are arranged. For example, here is my friend Sarah playing on a one-handed 6-Note kalimba.
