TIP OF THE DAY
December 13, 2006 Last week, we looked at making KTabS parts for multiple kalimbas. Today we look at the Ukrainian classic Carol of the Bells. This song modulates to a different sort of mode in the middle, then back to the first part. We make this happen by retuning the bottom notes of the Treble kalimba to a different scale, and only playing on those notes in that part.

See how the lower Treble tines are tuned differently? The low C is tuned to a C# and the low D is tuned to a D# to make that run sound right. |
