Recording the Kalimba:
What About Burning a CD?

So, you've mixed down a few songs to stereo WAV files, and of course, you want to put them onto CD. First, make sure that they are 16 bit, 44.1 kHz sampled WAV files, because this is what your CD player is going to expect.

My computer came with a program called NERO - i.e., I didn't pay anything extra for it. I find that it works fine. You can purchase it online for $79 at nero.com. TOAST is another common CD burning program, which is also available for $79 at roxio.com.

There are less expensive versions out there too. You can even get CD burning software for free.

CD burning programs may also provide some mastering tools, which let you do things like insert extra time between songs, insert an extra track number in the middle of an otherwise continuous song, or adjust the relative volumes of songs.
