The Wah Wah Effect :
Minimize Noise By Clipping Your Nails

I am always caressing the kalimba holes with my thumbs and fingers to produce the wah wah sound. Touching the wood helps me know the exact distance I am from the hole, i.e., it is sort of a cheat for estimating clutch distance; however, this can be problematic when recording—as this can make noise when the finger nails click on the back wood. So I make sure to clip my finger nails.
