The Best Kalimba for Beginning Players

If you are younger than 12, or if you are on a limited budget, or if you lack confidence in your own musical abilities, I would recommend the 8-Note Kalimba.

If you are older than 12 and have some degree of musical confidence and you have very small hands, I'd recommend the Hugh Tracey Celeste Treble kalimba.

If you are older than 12 and have some degree of musical confidence and you have normal-sized or large hands, I'd recommend the Hugh Tracey Alto kalimba (my favorite).
