Remarkable, Older Kalimbas

While the new Hugh Tracey kalimbas are wonderful instruments, some of the old ones I've played have been quite remarkable. I have finally retired my 20 year old Alto kalimba from performances in favor of a new Alto with Pickup, but to my surprise my favorite kalimba is now an old Treble.

Some of the old kalimbas really aren't in good shape but, judging by appearance, about half the kalimbas I see for sale on eBay are in reasonable shape.

Twice I've seen kalimbas for sale with some nifty artwork on them. One had a painted back, and the other had an eye painted on the wood inside so it could look out the sound hole!

So, some people in the past were inspired to add their art to the Hugh Tracey kalimba... I'm not going to do that, unless I am overcome in a moment of inspiration. How about you?
