TIP OF THE DAY
Tuesday, September 25, 2007 The most likely tines on the Hugh Tracey kalimba to develop a mild buzz are tines that have been painted. Some of the tines are painted to help you find your way around the neighborhood of notes. Often a little bit of paint will get on the underside of the tine, or on the cylindrical metal bridge rod, and the dried paint sometimes causes a buzz. Instead of fixing this buzz with the little paper washer method, you could lift the tine off of the bridge and use an exacto knife to scrape away the paint from the underside of the tine and the bridge rod. I find this is often effective in stopping a buzz.
