This tuning turns the mild-mannered 8-Note Kalimba, which is usually tuned to "Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do" (you can't get any more western than that), into a link directly back to the kalimba's origins in Africa. This is tuned like 8 of the 9 bottom notes on the African-tuned Karimba, and this tuning is several centuries old. Here is a 2 against 3 piece that sounds great on this kalimba:
