December 20, 2007 Over the last 6 weeks, we showed you how to play E, A, B, C#m, F#m, and G#m chords on the Sansula. This is basically a I, IV, and V chord, in both major and minor. These are all the chords you need to play probably 90% of music in the keys of E major and C# minor, so this tuning is a much more general tuning to use for the Sansula than the standard A minor tuning which really focuses on A minor and F major 7. In the coming weeks, we will look at various suspensions we can add to these basic chords - like 7ths, 4ths, 2nds, 6ths, 9ths - things that add a lot of spice and alternatives to the sound of these basic chords. Basically, if you pick any two chords plus one or more of their suspensions - you have a song. The chord plus a suspending note will make for an interesting melody. You can purchase a Sansula at the Kalimba Shop. |
