Sansula Pulloffs

Last week, we saw that there are three pairs of notes right next to each other on the Sansula - the upper octave note is on the upper row of tines, and the lower octave note is on the lower row, either immediately to the right or to the left of the upper note. This permits the player to play the upper note and slide their thumb right off onto the lower note - a very fast move.

You will find that there are two notes that don't sound so good this way because they are so close together - that is the pivot pair which we will learn about next week.

The photo for today shows a particularly nice pair of pulloffs you can do. Here, the "1, 2, 3, 4" do not refer to positions in the chord, but rather to the order you should play these notes. Play them as slowly or as quickly as you like.
