TIP OF THE DAY
July 6, 2006
Arpeggios on the Karimba The Alto and Treble kalimbas have the notes arranged so you go back and forth, Right-Left-Right-Left, to go up the scale. At first glance, the karimba's notes aren't arranged so nicely. However, as you play karimba, you will discover that it is arranged in a way that makes a lot of cool African-sounding things simple to play. Go back to yesterday and read about arpeggios. The tablature below shows an arpeggio on the karimba. OK, the first half is really easy, but I admit, the second half, which reproduces the arpegio an octave higher, is a bit tricky at first.
