TIP OF THE DAY
January 25, 2007 The Sansula and Treblito both have nine notes. The Sansula, made in Germany, sounds like an angel floating in the air. The Treblito, made in Africa and simplified by removing 8 tines as pioneered by N. Scott Robinson, sounds a bit crazed, and definitely earthy. Working together, they contrast to make something beautiful. This piece, called Gray Cat and cowritten with one of my students, Della Estrada, is one of 31 tunes in the Kalimba Duets and Trios book which will be available from Kalimba Magic on Feb 6. Next week I'll have a recording of this piece.
