January 10, 2008 The C# chord on the Beautiful E Sansula has E as its 3rd, which is a minor 3rd. Hence C# is a minor chord, written C#m. When we add the 7th note (which is B), the chord becomes C#m7. While the C#m chord is meloncholy, the 7th adds some mystery to the sound of the chord.
