TIP OF THE DAY
January 4, 2007 For Thursday's tip, we're going to feature the Sansula for a while, along with the Treblito (a Hugh Tracey Treble kalimba with every other tine removed). Lately, I've been playing the Treblito while my partner plays the Sansula, and we get quite lost in the musical wilderness. The Sansula comes with a few suggested alternative tunings, but we are still exploring the native tuning. This is based on C major or A minor - it is actually an A minor chord with a flat 6th and a 9th thrown in. However, to make the Treblito work with the Sansula, we modified the Treblito tuning several times until we came up with something we like very much. But for now, let's just listen to the Sansula.
