Don't Overreach, But Be True to the Light Within You

Quakers say something like "be true to the measure of light within you." We all have light within, and our jobs are to shine that light out into the world, to do what we can to illuminate both the good and the bad things that are going on. To shine with joy when we can, and to bring to light the things which need our attention.

BUT, don't pretend to be somewhere you aren't. If an intention such as "giving Glory to God" doesn't ring true to you, if your measure of light is saying something more like "shining out beauty to the world", that can be your intention. If you are in a spot where you aren't capable of that, how about "Can I do a little something on the kalimba to make my heart feel better?"
