TIP OF THE DAY
February 23, 2007 Measure the length of the string from the bridge (near where you strum) to the nut (at the head of the guitar). Now measure the distance from the bridge to the 1st fret (i.e., a half step above the open string). Divide the first length by the second. You should get a number close to 1.059463 (limited by your precision in measuring the lengths). You can of course measure other intervals and see if your new-found theoretical understanding matches the measurements. Hint: isn't it science fair time?
