Welcome to Jordan McGary!

If you have purchased a kalimba from Kalimba Magic in the last few months, chances are you are wondering who Jordan is! Jordan started working for Kalimba Magic on May 1. He replaces my son Timothy in helping me ship kalimbas, and is taking on other Kalimba Magic responsibilities as well.

The history of Jordan's kalimba playing is closely linked to the history of Kalimba Magic. In 2004, I started giving my very first kalimba lessons to Jordan. However, after some lessons I realized he needed more help remembering everything I was showing him. And, in fact, this motivated me to invent the kalimba tablature. In early 2005, I started planning a kalimba book or two as well since there was essentially no kalimba instructional material available at that time. In June 2005 I heard from African Musical Instruments, Kalimba Magic was born, and everything changed in the world of kalimba music.

I was given my first kalimba on the day I turned twelve. Ever since, I've been captivated by this amazing instrument, and the music it can make. Almost seven years later, I'm about to get kalimba number seven. I left Tucson a few years ago, big box of kalimbas in tow. Now I'm back, and no matter how hot it gets, I'm glad to be home. It's good to be back where it all started.

I am honored to be one of the catalysts that set Mark down the path of creating Kalimba Magic, and spreading his love of kalimbas to the world. It's wonderful to have the opportunity to work with something I love, and help others find and share in that love. Thank you for making this possible. Jordan is a capable guy. He is very good with tuning and retuning kalimbas, and is an expert at getting a kalimba to sound its best. He is a musician who has known the kalimba since he was 12. Welcome, Jordan!
