This earlier and shorter-than-usual newsletter is mainly to let you know about some exciting new products, including some tablature downloads, a book, and an amazing new line of kalimbas that we're carrying, but we want to also remind you of our incredible 20% off Anniversary Sale - one day only - June 20th.
In July, we'll be back with some of our regular columns as well an an interview of Thomas Bothe who makes the amazing 2B kalimbas, tablature for the Yann Terisen piano composition La Valse de Amelie from the movie Amelie and more! In the August newsletter, we'll have some surprises from Catania Folk Instruments.
Kalimba Magic was born on June 20, 2005 when Christian Carver sent me a glowing email asking if I would help African Musical Instruments (AMI) by selling Hugh Tracey kalimbas at my concerts. When Christian Carver shone that little light on me five years ago, little did he know that he was starting a conflagration that would still be burning today, and it is burning bigger and brighter each year.
On June 20, 2010, the day that will mark five years of Kalimba Magic, we are giving you 20% off on all items at The Kalimba Magic Shop - a very special, one day only sale. To redeem this discount, use the coupon code FiveYears.
Note: I won't be in the shop that day (Sunday), so if for any reason you cannot successfully order or redeem your 20% off coupon, please call me at Kalimba Magic, 520-881-4666, Monday, June 21 - and we'll get it all sorted out.
We are putting together a Kalimba Calendar for 2011. Each month will feature a different kalimba as well as a different kalimba player. Additionally, we plan to release a compilation CD with 12 tracks, one for each kalimba player featured throughout the year. We'll make 1000 copies of the 2011 Kalimba Calendar - the standard royalty payments are $0.10 per track per copy, so this is a way for you to get $100 and a short stack of free calendars with your music and picture to give away to your buddies.
You may have noticed that the Kalimba Magic newsletter web pages are acting a bit different than they used to. In the past, if you clicked on a link that took you out of the newsletter or away from the Kalimba Magic site, it was our practice to open the page in a new window. But we are changing how this works for all links - except those to mp3s and videos. Now when you click on most links, you will navigate to that new page in the same window, whether it is inside our newsletter or on a completely different site. Of course, you can navigate right back to the newsetter using your brower's BACK ARROW. We are doing this to allow the Web user to make his or her own choice about whether to stay or navigate away, and to not force the user to open new tabs or windows.
